Information you provide

  • Account and security: name, email, password hash, verification and recovery records, and optional encrypted two-factor secrets and backup-code records.
  • Your workspace: saved ideas, private notes, progress, alert preferences and generated-artifact associations.
  • Private founder profile: skills, capital band, availability, distribution advantages, excluded categories and a numeric embedding when you choose semantic matching. The optional description is sent to the configured embedding provider; it is not stored as application text.
  • Community: the separate profile you opt to share, interests, contribution notes, introduction messages/statuses, blocks and abuse reports.
  • Support and billing: messages you send us, plan/subscription status, provider customer/order references, purchased terms, refund amounts and related audit records. Card details are handled by Polar, not stored by IdeasVault.

Technical and research information

Authentication and operations may record IP address, user agent, session identifiers, timestamps, security events, usage allowances and service diagnostics. We use these to keep accounts secure, prevent abuse, investigate failures and operate billing and research.

Research sources can include public discussions, company/reference pages, licensed search excerpts and provider metrics. We store permitted source text, URLs, dates, attribution and other evidence context. Where available, author identifiers are pseudonymized with a keyed hash; source content itself may still contain personal information. Search excerpts are labeled separately from primary evidence. Contact us with the report/source URL if you have a removal or correction request.

Why we process information

We process data to provide accounts and membership access, deliver requested alerts and introductions, personalize your research workspace, maintain citations, respond to support requests, reconcile payments/refunds, enforce usage limits, detect abuse and comply with applicable legal obligations. Depending on the processing and applicable law, this is based on providing the requested service, your consent, legitimate operational interests or a legal obligation. Optional community visibility, semantic matching and alerts can be controlled through your account.

Who receives information

  • Polar: payment, customer and subscription information needed for purchases, tax, fraud prevention and refunds. Polar also processes transaction information under its own privacy policy.
  • Resend: recipients and message contents for account emails, requested alerts and introductions.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers, including AWS: application, database, storage and operational processing.
  • Configured AI providers: research documents/report context and, if you choose semantic matching, your optional profile description. Providers may include AWS Bedrock, Anthropic or other configured services. We do not intentionally send your password, private saved notes or payment-card information to a model. Avoid including sensitive information in optional descriptions.
  • Other members: your opted-in community information; email addresses are shared with the other participant only after mutual acceptance. Private founder-fit preferences and private notes are not published.
  • Authorized administrators and advisers: information needed for operations, support, dispute resolution or legal obligations. We may disclose information when legally required or to protect legitimate rights and safety.

Cookies and choices

We use essential authentication/session cookies, including cookies needed for optional two-factor authentication and security. Cloudflare Turnstile may process browser signals when bot protection is enabled. We do not currently use advertising trackers or sell personal information. Email alerts and community participation are optional. You can pause alert rules, hide or delete your community profile, leave opportunities and revoke other sessions in the application.

Retention and deletion

Account/workspace data is retained to provide the service while your account is active. Deleting your account removes associated private notes, profiles, alert rules and sessions through the application’s deletion process. Subscription renewals and outstanding billing operations must first be resolved. You can also delete a private profile or individual saved note without deleting your account.

Some information survives account deletion where necessary for accounting, refunds, legal obligations, abuse prevention or disputes. This can include audit records, de-identified activity and restricted moderation records. Deleting a community profile removes its shared fields and interests, but a minimal moderation record may remain to enforce restrictions. Accepted introductions may already exist in recipients’ email inboxes, which we cannot recall.

Outbound fetch logs are scheduled for deletion after 30 days. Other operational, financial, moderation and audit records follow their applicable purpose and legal retention needs; they are not all removed with an account. Evidence snapshots and version history may remain to substantiate research and corrections. Backups can retain historical copies until their normal rotation; access to them is restricted.

Your requests and rights

You can request access, correction, deletion or other rights available under applicable law by emailing support@ideasvault.app. We may need to verify identity before acting and will explain any legal reason that prevents full deletion. Optional processing can be stopped by disabling the relevant feature. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may raise the matter with the relevant privacy authority where applicable. Our service is intended for adults aged 18 and over.

Security and international processing

We use technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information. See Trust & transparency for account-protection information and how to report a concern. No service can guarantee absolute security. Providers and infrastructure may process data in India and other countries. Applicable contractual and legal safeguards govern those transfers. This page is updated when processing materially changes; significant changes will be communicated as appropriate.
